What's some other Uruguayan cuisine you would recommend to foodie travelers?
We always recommend that travelers try the Uruguayan or Argentinean grill. The method to cooking the meat, vegetables and fish is very different from that in the United States. We have unique meat cuts and we always use wood to heat the grill. Lighting the fire is a huge ceremony down there.
If you ever visit Jose Ignacio, you should go to La Huella. It is one of the best restaurants in Uruguay (the owners are partners with Fernando Trocca in Santa Teresita) and the restaurant has one of the biggest wood burning ovens and grills. You can also find excellent seafood in town.
