Pita bread and hummus are a healthy substitute for a non-meat eater. The chickpeas in this savory homemade hummus recipe are a rich source of protein and carbohydrates. Here's what you'll need:
  • one 15-ounce can of chickpeas
  • 1/4 cup fresh lemon juice
  • 1/4 cup tahini
  • half of a large garlic clove, minced
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1/2 to 1 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 2 to 3 tablespoons water
  • paprika for serving
