After twenty six years and five children, Lady India Hicks (Bahamian based designer slash British aristocrat slash Prince Charles’s goddaughter) has tied the knot with longtime partner David Flint Wood.
As India wrote for UK Vogue, "After such a bewildering 18 months, I felt a longing for something reassuring, something anchoring. Not only for me but for my kids, who like everyone else had been shaken by the pandemic. “Let’s get married,” I suggested to David one evening after supper with the kids at home, on the tiny island in the Bahamas where we live, and where we had spent the lockdown as a family. David asked me to marry him 25 years ago when I discovered I was pregnant with our son, Felix. But being in my fiercely independent woman phase, I never accepted."
Though an unconventional route to the altar, India had a decidedly traditional wedding, hosting her nearest and dearest for an intimate church affair in her home village of Brightwell Baldwin, Oxfordshire.
For her pre-wedding night of dinner and dancing (an ode to the couple's tendency to do things backwards), the bride wore a sparkling sequin dress by Naeem Khan.
The next morning, she followed up the look with a stunning, custom Emilia Wickstead dress to walk down the aisle.
To mark the special occasion, everyone from Brooke Shields, Christian Louboutin and Nathan Turner to Zoe de Givenchy, Jamie Callum and Sophie Dahl joined in the countryside festivities.
