10 Reasons "La La Land" Composer Justin Hurwitz Is One To Watch

Hurwitz's musical talents begun to be realized at age six (hence the adorable photo of a child playing piano above). As recently as five years ago, the only furniture in his apartment was a piano in his living room. So effing romantic. 

When director Damien Chazelle suggested mimicking Hurwitz's unfortunate prior living situation in the musical, Ryan responded, “No, that is just too sad.”
