El Cielo
Tasting menus are all the rage in New York - every week it feels there are more and more restaurants who jump into the trend. The hard part is choosing which one is worth $100, $200, or even $300 a head. Miami hosts just a few places that participate in tasting menus, whether exclusively or sporadically, and at the top of the totem pole of tasting menus rests a place called El Cielo. They specialize in molecular gastronomy and mix Columbian food with neo-modern techniques. Every dish is a masterpiece and the server a historian who details every bite and meaning. It's 10 courses for less than $100 a person, yet is one of the most upscale menus in Miami. Halfway through they even give you warm dark chocolate to massage your hands then swiftly rinse it off with warm water. From start to finish it is about one and a half hours, so give yourself plenty of time to enjoy the meal(s).
