A New York Creative Just Gave Away All His Designer Clothes... For Art

by guestofaguest · February 15, 2017

While most people were spending the day expressing their affection for their loved ones, artist Bjarne Melgaard was doing the opposite: purging. Ahead of his new exhibit The Casual Pleasure of Disappointment at Red Bull Arts New York, Bjarne decided to rid himself of his collection of designer fashion. It's a degree of catharsis most people are probably not willing to achieve on their own, but there was a perk to Melgaard's purge. From 5 to 8 pm on Valentine's Day, anyone was able to come to Red Bull Arts New York and had 5 minutes to grab whatever clothes they could get their hands on. This included pieces from Raf Simons, Comme des Garcons, and Stussy, as well as Megaard's own streetwear collection. But they were warned, "...get ready for disappointment, too... NO GUARANTEES. NO RETURNS. NO LOVE." Check out some preview images of his exhibit and collection below.

Bjarne Melgaard: The Casual Pleasure Of Disappointment is on view at Red Bull Arts New York, 220 W 18th, from February 16th to April 9th
