Secret Gardens at Dorian Grey Gallery

Secret Gardens at Dorian Grey Gallery
Though he gets annoyed when his work is compared to "Persian miniatures," Philip Van Aver's whimsical pieces are nevertheless ornamented with arabesque borders that recall just that. The main pictorial space, however, is distinctly derived from "post-Renaissance" concepts. Together with work by the late, great Lowell Nesbitt, Van Aver's nature-filled landscapes and still life portraits are set to be displayed in the appropriately-titled show, Secret Gardens, next month. When: March 13-April 27 Where: Dorian Grey Gallery, 437 E 9th St [Photo via]
