Lisa Yuskavage Exhibition
Nudity, demons, and references to Christianity are all included in Lisa Yuskavage's current exhibition at Zwirner. The artist's works merge popular culture and a deep engagement with the history of art. Even the classical poses of her nudes parallel the art-historical genre of the nude in Christian art. Her use of various tones of a color gives each figure its own eerie presence on the canvas as though redefining how we understand that color.
