The New Woman in Film
The Camera Club of New York sits down with art professor Vanessa Rocco to discuss her latest book, “The New Woman International: Representations in Photography and Film from the 1870s through the 1960s.”
The conversation will review the varied depictions of women throughout film history, as well as femininity’s ongoing relationship with new media. (As Meryl Streep might say: It’s Complicated.) Flappers, tramps, suffragists, Metropolis fembots, and Mulan will all be debated.
Date: Saturday, September 29, 4-6pm
Location: The Camera Club of New York, 336 West 37 Street, Suite 206
