DNA and Dust at QF Gallery
The gap between science and art is finally bridged by artists Heather Dewey-Hagborg and Paul Hazelton at their dual exhibition
DNA and Dust. Using analyses of strangers' discarded DNA, on items such as gum and cigarette butts, Dewey-Hagborg creates three-dimensional portrait sculptures which take the 21st century impulse of voyeurism a stirring step forward.
Hazelton, on the other hand, satisfies his curiosity for humanity by focusing on the microcosm of the dust we share. His dust sculptures are formed within old light bulbs and were originally a collaboration with filmmaker Hugh Stoddart for upcoming short film
Moth Dust.
