Drew Tal, Worlds Apart

Drew Tal, Worlds Apart
Israeli-born artist Drew Tal combines photography and digital media to create a stunning exploration of cultural diversity in the Afro-Asian landscape. Inspired by the legendary Silk Road on one hand, but displaying a particular focus on Muslim women, Tal celebrates the "colorful collage" of religions and ethnicities surrounding his youth. He insists, however, that his lens is not a critical one, as he approached it as
"a mere unseen observer of these women's lives: their celebrations and struggles, their sorrows and renewed hopes, their acceptance and, at times, their courageous heroism."
