More bad news from the East Village: a source tells us that a customer at Veselka was wheeled out of the venerable diner on a stretcher after overdosing on heroin last night. If you have any information regarding the incident, please let us know.
Veselka has always drawn in an eclectic crowd of East Village Ukrainians, artists, writers, supermodels (like Agnes Deyn) and celebrities. And it's 24/7 operating hours and proximity to scores of downtown bars has always lent it a somewhat raucous buzz. But a drug overdose in a place best known for its borscht, pierogi and stuffed cabbage still seems odd. Let's hope the patron is on the mend.
