Brooklyn Is Getting A Vegan Butcher Shop Because, Brooklyn

by Stephanie Maida · December 7, 2016

Welcome to Brooklyn, the land where nobody needs glasses but everybody wears them, and of course, where vegans still love BBQ. No meat? No problem, according to Monk's, the popular veggie-based comfort food stand at Smorgasburg. From seitan to sliders, the health-minded chefs serve up juicy, albeit meatless, bites. And now, thanks to a successful Kickstarter campaign, they're getting their own brick-and-mortar location.

Set to open in Bed-Stuy, Brooklyn next year, the vegetarian "butcher shop and delicatessen" promises gourmet meatballs, wheatsteaks, sausages, sandwiches, and charcuterie, all free of animal anything. Who said hipsters prefer salad?
