Of A Kind For GofG: The Designer Behind Maxx & Unicorn On His Three Must-Hit Spots In Greenpoint

by Erica Cerulo · August 10, 2011

Nathan Gryszowka's line is very much rooted in his 'hood': He uncovered the 1940s wallet that inspired the awesome folded-leather style he created at a vintage shop in Williamsburg, and sold his first pieces at In God We Trust right around the corner from his apartment in Greenpoint. These are his favorite Brooklyn spots.

The menswear ace-who made a limited-edition gray-green wallet just for Of a Kind- knows his neck of the woods very well, and these are the spots he hits time and time again.

Anella: "Anella is by far my favorite place to take my wife for dinner. It is quaint, romantic, and has outstanding food and wine. We love to watch the chef and staff preparing food in their small, open kitchen." (222 Franklin St., Brooklyn, 718-389-8100; anellabrooklyn.com)

Paulie Gee's: For a more casual option, we like Paulie Gee's for out-of-the-box artisan pizzas. They also have my fav local beer Blue Point Toasted Lager on tap, and this may be the only place around to find a great red zin by the glass." (60 Greenpoint., Ave Brooklyn, 347-987-3747; pauliegee.com)

The Habitat: " As for Greenpoint's best neighborhood bar, I would say that it's the Habitat on Manhattan Avenue. The beer selection is great-there's always something new and unusual- and the crowd is totally casual and definitely mostly regulars from the 'hood."
