In the 1930s, film star Greta Garbo lived in the Two Beekman Place building at Mitchell Place, where she had a six-room apartment. She later lived at the Ritz Towers, 465 Park Avenue at 57th Street. Her most famous address was The Campanile, located at 450 East 52nd Street, where she lived in a seven-room apartment for almost fifty years until her death in 1990.
