[All photos by CLINT SPAULDING for PMc] This morning saw a happy day for New York City which celebrated "Sesame Street Day". In addition, there a street was temporarily renamed Sesame Street for the day in honor of the program's permanence and it's everlasting impact on New York City's history. Sesame Street has been on the air for forty years, ever since it premiered on November 10, 1969.
If you'd like to go down to Sesame Street, today you can. Take the 1 train to Lincoln Center, and mosey down to 64th Street. A section of Columbus Ave at 64th Street has the famous street sign hoisted for a short time.
For more Sesame Street fun, you can catch First Lady Michelle Obama on the fortieth anniversary show where she'll speak about eating fresh fruits and vegetables, or you can head over to the Brooklyn Public Library which will be hosting a 3-month long exhibition of Sesame Street memorabilia.
