The brand was inspired by your travels together in India. What was it about the country and its people that solidly sparked the idea?
For those who haven't been able to discover the magic of India, it's a different world that affects every sense in a deep and meaningful way. The interactions with the people you meet are so genuine and familiar that you begin to immerse in the culture more quickly than other places. On our first trip we kept coming across the incredible textiles and craft techniques and then the signs came together and gave us the push we needed to leap into this new venture. We had one day in Jaipur, visiting incredible architectural sights, shopping secret basements full of textile treasures and talking to people about the industry, and Erin and I would look at each other and think "this is it! we can do this!" The day ended with an elephant ride in the desert outside of the city and we were elated with our new sense of purpose, the wonderful people we met, and our newly formed path that felt so right. We couldn't stop laughing and it felt as if years of puzzle pieces just came together - pure mirth. We were excited and ready for the leap of starting a business. This is where the name comes from - our elephant ride was joyous, full of euphoria and happiness, which is the definition of mirth.
