Kobe Beef
While Wagyu beef has become more ubiquitous in recent years, Kobe beef, which comes from a certain type of Wagyu (which really just means "Japanese cow") is the most coveted amongst carnivorous gourmands with especially deep pockets. The prized meat, famous for its unmatched tenderness and well-marbled texture, can sell for around $800 per kilogram. Since it was first allowed to be exported in 2012, "Kobe-style" beef, which is produced by crossbreeding U.S.-raised Wagyu with Angus cattle, has gotten popular. But don't be fooled - if you're paying less than a few hundred for that burger, it ain't real Kobe.
