Open since 1968 and under current owner Steve Kingston’s direction since 2000, The Clam Shack is known for serving the freshest seafood around. With stiff competition in Maine, Kingston’s secret comes from where he harvests his lobster. Sourcing his lobster from one of the oldest local seafood markets in the area, the just-caught crustacean is steamed in ocean water before the meat is hand- picked. Bringing the same ocean-fresh lobster roll to the event, the restaurant served a one-pound lobster piled on to a grilled bun from a local bakery, with just a touch of mayonnaise and a drizzle of melted butter., which is no wonder he took home the grand prize for three consecutive years.
