If there's an amazing party on the New York, Hamptons or Aspen social calendar, chances are Alexander Hankin is either at it or hosting it.
Real estate development at Hankin Management Company by day, art world by night, champagne wishes and caviar dreams in between - ah the life of a stylish man about town!
While Alexander will be plenty busy this season jet setting around from hot spot to hot spot, he'll still have time to make the holidays merry and bright.
Curious what's on his list of gifts to give and get?
Us too!
How do you celebrate the holidays?
The holiday season really kicks off for me every year with Thanksgiving. It’s my favorite time of year and every year my mother throws an over the top event for 40 to 60 friends and family at our house. This year was complete with an ice skating rink and winter train set on the table. She really owns the holiday and we jokingly call it Hanksgiving. I also always go to my aunts for an immediate family Hanukkah celebration with my aunts and cousins.
Aspen though is where you will always find me from Christmas to New Year's Eve. I guess I’m going on about 11 - 12 years now of this tradition. This year, I’ll be at the Snow Lodge. Jayma knows how to make the holidays extra magical. I am super excited that this year I am finally bringing back the winter benefit for the Aspen Art Museum, though we have rebranded and it's now the Downhill Disco. Get your tickets December 29th, 6pm-9pm!
Are you a last-minute or way-in-advance shopper?
I always want to be an advanced shopper but sadly I leave it all until the last minute. James Birkenholz in the Saks Club is my personal stylist there and helps me with everything. Truly, James is the best.
What's the best gift you've ever given?
I think most recently the best gift I’ve given is I got Lathan a monogrammed Goyard wallet for his birthday. It was a super cute fun moment to do together and now we have matching ones.
Who's the toughest to shop for on your list?
My sister, Danielle. She’s my best friend and she has everything. Plus her birthday is in December so it’s a double whammy. Really unless I’m going to get a girlfriend for her miniature horse Danny De Vito or a Zebra, I am at a loss.
What's your go-to hostess gift?
Ruinart or Pearl Street Caviar. Nothing says the holidays or a gift from me like champagne and caviar.
Favorite spots around town to pick up something in person?
Saks or The Museum of Art and Design Store. MAD’s store has the best home stuff and joining is a great way to get a discount!
What's on your list to get?
Oh, I want new ski pants! Bogner is my favorite ski company. Their stuff is chic and performs well. Though there is a pair of Fendi pants that would match my new jacket well. I also want to get custom ski boots from Surefoot. Maybe a new suitcase from Rimowa or at least get my current one fixed.
What's on your list to give?
Ruinart, Pearl Street Caviar, Zenni optical, Diptyque Candles, L’Objet picture frames - oh and I need a new notebook for Lathan, he burns though those things.
