When you're strength training with dumbbells, work only one arm or leg at a time. If you do this then you're giving one side of your body a rest while you keep the other side working hard. Your heart will keep pumping the entire time (we love a higher heart rate) which means you're burning calories, but you'll give your body the time it needs to regenerate in between sets.
One of his most crucial points is that you try and get out and walk as much as you can. Walk to go get lunch, maybe even park your car a little further from work than normal. Getting active and keeping yourself moving is actually more beneficial than you think.
