These Fashion Pros Are Making Medical Gowns & You Can Help Support Them

by Christie Grimm · April 21, 2020

While many have been focusing on the medical community's need for masks, an amazing group of fashion industry do-gooders are hard at work creating another much needed safety supply.

We've all seen the shameful photos of medical professionals sporting trash bags with slits in place of proper medical gowns. It's atrocious that our frontline fighters against such a destructive virus should be so poorly equipped. Which is exactly why Rachel Rothenberg-Saenz, Alex Baylis, Amy Tiefermann and Fernanda Camoes Esteve came together to pool their fashion design and production resources to create their Garment District for Gowns movement.

Through their Go Fund Me, they've been able to raise over $60,000 to date to finance the making of thousands of gowns to be donated to hospitals in need. The gowns are medical grade, and sewed by volunteers taking all appropriate sterilizing precautions. The team of them have experience working for brands such as Ralph Lauren, Dior, Marchesa, The Row, Vera Wang, Ralph Rucci, and Oscar de la Renta - so you know they're chic as well!

Have you been watching the news, desperate to help but unsure of how best to go about it? Take a read through the Garment District for Gowns page. I'm positive you'll be impressed!
