This heart-healthy plan, created in 1977 by Dr. Dean Ornish, is low in fat, refined carbohydrates and animal protein, but also emphasizes stress management and exercise. One bonus of the Ornish Diet is how personal it is - you can choose foods based on a spectrum, from "most healthy" to "least," and it's as easy as swapping white bread for whole grain.
