No, it's not based on any weird reality show on the TLC network. In this case, TLC stands for "Therapeutic Lifestyle Changes" and it promotes a balanced, heart-healthy diet consisting of plenty of veggies, fruits, nonfat dairy, breads, cereals, pasta and lean meats. It was created by the National Institute of Health’s National Cholesterol Education Program to help people lower their "bad" cholesterol, and probably lose some extra pounds in the process. Bonus: carbs are definitely not off limits.
