Toast with Gurney's
Montauk meets Mexico with Gurney’s Star Island Resort & Marina’s 1 Tequila 2 Tequila cocktail by Jarhn Blutstein, Area Beverage Manager of Gurney’s Resorts.
To begin with, take a bottle of Blanco Tequila and place 1 Jalapeño + 2 Habaneros (or 3 Jalapeños) sliced into the bottle. Let this sit for 25 minutes and immediately strain out the peppers and any seeds. Pro tip: at Gurney’s Star Island, they like to use light blue agave and we mix it equal parts of 1 cup of agave to 1 cup of warm water and mix it until it incorporates.
Recipe:
1.5oz Blanco infused pepper tequila
.5oz Reposado tequila
.5oz Fresh lime
.5oz Agave mixture
2 Strawberries (green tops cut off)
*garnish with Aleppo pepper/kosher salt rim
Take a lime wedge and coat 1/3 of the rim (about ½ inch deep) of your glass & dip it into your salt/spice rim
Muddle strawberries in your mixing tin, add the rest of your ingredients with ice to the tin.
Shake and then strain over fresh ice into your rimmed glass!
