Located in Long Island City, 5Pointz is an old warehouse that is now a mecca for street art. The area was previously overrun with illegal graffiti, so the warehouse's curator (an infamous graffiti artist himself) decided to preserve the space and the art that accumulated on the building over the years. Thousands of different artists have worked on the walls, and despite the immense amount of high-quality work, the images have been painted over countless times. Currently, 5Pointz is just an outdoor art exhibit, but the curator has plans to convert the space into an official museum, complete with hands-on art instruction and art history lessons. Nearly anyone can paint on the walls after applying for permission, and the facility also offers guided tours. If the photos are to be used for public purposes, it is possible to apply for a media permit through the organization.
