Although only open seasonally, the rooftop on the Metropolitan Museum of Art is an overlooked attraction that offers a rare view of the Manhattan skyline and Central Park. A quick elevator ride to the 5th floor will get you here, and access to the rooftop runs from 10:00 am to 4:30 pm Tuesday through Thursday and on Sundays, while it stays open til 8:00 pm on Fridays and Saturdays. In addition to an amazing panoramic view, the roof also features modern art and intricate, contemporary sculptures scattered throughout the space. The museum serves cocktails and light fare for those looking to spend some time on top of the Met instead of inside it.
