Governor's Island
Governor's Island is a tourist attraction that doesn't receive much publicity in New York outside of the annual Governor's Ball, yet it offers some truly incredible views of the Manhattan Skyline and waterfront, along with an expansive lawn and sprawling bike paths. Governor's Island is open to the public every weekend until September, and although there are no cars allowed on the island, the ferry from the Battery Maritime Building is free and leaves every half hour after 11 am. Ferry's are also accessible from Brooklyn Bridge Park's Pier 6, starting at 11 am and running every half hour. Governor's Beach Club is also the official location for a series of concerts put on throughout the summer which feature some of the hottest DJs in the world.
