The white-haired muse-maker, luminary, and iconic artist Andy Warhol is finally getting the film he deserves. A New York staple for decades, Warhol and his posse of cool kids and creatives made their mark in everything from film to society and while his contemporaries, such as Edie Sedgwick and Basquiat, have feature-length credits to their name, a substantial biopic of Warhol has yet to be accomplished. Until now.
The Hollywood Reporter claims that Jared Leto has gotten the ball rolling on an upcoming and highly anticipated movie about Andy's life. The Oscar winner is set to star in the namesake role as well as produce alongside The Social Network's Michael De Luca. The script, based off of the 1989 Victor Bockris book, Warhol: The Biography, will be written by Terence Winter, who already has Boardwalk Empire and The Wolf of Wall Street under his belt.
While there's no word yet of who will direct or when it will be released, art nerds are sure to expect an excellent take on Warhol's 15 minutes of fame.
