Manhattan West is shaping up to be quite the all-in-one night-out destination. Along with the recent debut of swanky sushi spot Katsuya and its adjoining watering hole, S Bar, the luxury mega-complex has also added Chez Zou to its impressive hospitality roster.
The moody Mediterranean-inspired cocktail lounge comes from the team behind Zou Zou's, the buzzy eatery helmed by chef Madeline Sperling and Quality Branded. Accessed through an elevator inside the restaurant, the fourth-floor haunt is decked out in deep jewel tones, bold prints, and lush greenery with a cozy alcove bar and a smattering of curved banquettes and ottomans. The spot also boasts an expansive outdoor terrace with lounge seating for al fresco imbibing.
As for what, exactly, that imbibing entails? EMP Summer House and The NoMad alum Joey Smith is shaking up a selection of playful and inventive cocktails highlighting flavors evoking the eastern-Mediterranean region. Sips include the Dirty Zou (olive oil washed vodka, grape leaf, and Levantine cheese-stuffed olives), Tamarind Julab (tequila, tamarind, chamomile, and apple), and Golden Colada (Guatemalan rum, golden raisins, arak, lime, pineapple, and coconut), which can all be paired with Chef Sperling's bar bites like Flaming Turkish Pistachios, Scotch Olives, Zucchini Frites, and Kumamoto Oysters.
The chic spot is open Tuesday-Saturday from 5pm-1am, so it's ideal for after-work drinks or a Midtown nightcap.
