It's a real shame you can't order every single drink on the menu at new downtown destination Romeo's. Well, I mean you could, you'd just pass away or go blind or at the very least embarrass yourself so thoroughly you'd wish for either of those first two fates.
Evan Hawkins, formerly of Loverboy and Mother’s Ruin, has certainly got an interesting thing going over on St. Marks Place. Neon lights give the pocket-sized spot its cool pink hue, while blast-from-the-past films are projected onto the wall.
But it's not the decor or the vibe that sets Romeo's apart (in all honesty the interiors are less than inspired), it's the cocktail menu of hit after hit.
A Strawberry Americano, Cucumber Gin & Tonic, Peach Vodka Soda, Coconut Whiskey Ginger, Spicy Avocado Margarita, Pistachio Mai Tai, Chocolate Negroni and Espresso Martini with Hazelnut Foam?! Even The Cosmo at this place, an otherwise eye-rollable order, is a winner - lemon infused vodka, lime, house made orange and cranberry cordial, and for a final flair-for-the-dramatic touch, the sip is set on fire with orange oil.
The short menu of flavorful bites is also notable, featuring Elote Popcorn (first bag is on the house), Thai Spiced Corn Ribs, a Hot Dog with all the fixings, a cheesy Croque Monsieur and more.
