Slide #7
HN: Does the fact that you’re out every night blacking out and taking pictures of club ho’s cause any stress on your relationship with your girlfriend?”
KB:“ I met my girl when I was already a year into it. So, she knew what she was getting into. Everyone tells me she’s the coolest person I could ever be with because she gets it. I tell her all the time ‘I give you props for dealing with all the crap I bring on to you.’”
HN: What’s your philosophy on nightlife photography?
KB: “If I can’t get you the most beautiful people I’ll get you the coolest people or the craziest party photos. I always go in for the shot. If someone’s spraying champagne, I’ll get my camera wet. I care more about making the party look cool than anything else.”
I think those last few sentences encapsulate why KirillWasHere has become so popular, he’s managed to brand being “cool.” We live in an extremely narcissistic society, where people’s lives are broadcast to everyone in their social networks. This is magnified In the NY nightlife scene where image is everything. Everyone wants to look cool and Kirill has managed to turn that into an art form.
