If you happen to take a stroll through Gramercy and come across a block-long line leading to the door of an old carriage house, chances are you've stumbled upon Martiny's, one of NYC's buzziest new cocktail bars.

Making its debut in a historic 19th century building which was once the studio of its namesake, French-American sculptor Philip Martiny, the cozy drinking den is the latest venture from Takuma Watanabe, the former head bartender at the celebrated but now sadly shuttered Angel's Share. Needless to say, the city's cocktail connoisseurs have been more than happy to follow Watanabe to his new home.

Marrying the history of the space with distinctly Japanese sensibilities, Martiny's stands as a welcoming yet refined watering hole for stylish imbibers, complete with plush sofas and intimate seating areas that channel the comfort of a living room salon.

As the spot's name playfully suggests, the menu features martinis aplenty, along with meticulously crafted sips like the Grand Martiny's (Bombay Sapphire Gin, La Cigarrera Manzanilla, Churchill's Porto 2016, St. Germain, Hine Rare, and Grapes) and the Royal Horse's Neck (Park Carre Blanche, Orange, Lemon, Egg Yolk, Ginger Ale, Charles Le Bel Inspiration 1818, and Champagne). Pair them all with elevated bar bites by Wayne S. Cheng, including kampachi, scallops, and Japanese fried chicken with caviar. Need way say more?
