Allie Redmond — Make Believe

If you're looking for a spot with a pulsing beat and views of the city from above, Make Believe in the SIXTY LES Hotel is the place to be. But you'll have to get past Allie Redmond first. Model by day, manager here by night, she has a keen sense of what she’s looking for in the crowd of people trying to get in. “I think what makes a good nightclub or party has a lot to do with the crowd. More so than people think. A rowdy crowd or too drunk of a crowd makes a bad experience for employees and other customers,” she says.

With the return of nightlife coinciding with the hot nights of summer, revelers have been flocking to the downtown watering hole hoping for rooftop breezes and a DJ that keeps things cool. Scoring a seat in the pink booths, however, proves to be a harder task these days.

“I can’t stand a name dropper,” Redmond admits. “A lot of people know our owners names and think by saying ‘I know so and so’ is a free pass in.”
