Omri — Paul’s Casablanca
Head to the far west end of Spring Street, look for the neon sign marking the long-shuttered "McGovern's Bar," and you'll find one of the hardest doors to crack in the city: that of Paul’s Casablanca. While the interiors are coated in beautiful Moroccan tile, and filled with perhaps even more beautiful clientele, out front the vibe can seem industrial and remote, apart from the people trying their luck with the front-facing gatekeeper, Ludwig. Inside, the party is being masterfully coordinated by GM Omri. Together the duo have seamlessly created one of the hottest spots in the city, where Wednesday nights are as lively as a Saturday.
“We are purveyors of fun,” says Omri of his work at the club. “If you're not having a good time, why be there?” While Casablanca has been the place to be for years, a revived surge of partygoers have been flocking to the spot in full force. “It's a new world. People seem to have a greater appreciation for self-care, which includes entertainment and nightlife and enjoying themselves,” says Omri. “The job is ultimately the same, but the joy and fervor in the clubs has increased and it makes it even better than before.”
