Despite the built-in request that is its name, PDT (Please Don’t Tell) is probably one of the most popular speakeasies in New York. Over a decade after opening, however, the hidden hot spot is still just as hard to get into - and not just in terms of finding the entrance.
The world-renowned cocktail den, which can usually only be entered through a tight phone booth from the next-door eatery Crif Dogs, is back to selling out reservations nightly. Having recently relaunched under its new owner, Jeff Bell, its long-time barman and 20-year industry veteran, a spot at the bar is just as coveted as ever, with a ton of innovative new cocktails hitting the menu.
And if the revamped, post-COVID comeback wasn't exciting enough, PDT has also debuted a brand new al fresco experience, just in time for summer. PDT Tropicale marks the bar's first-ever outdoor expansion, a greenery-filled "oasis in the street" paying homage to the East Village's Latin American and Caribbean ties. Snag a spot and indulge in refreshing, tropical-inspired cocktails that highlight rum and tequila - a.k.a. the spirits that never fail to transport you to the beach in your head.
The lush, sunny setup, complete with bamboo fencing and chic rattan furniture, is a serious departure from the dim, cozy vibes of the iconic speakeasy. And, considering the quality of cocktails it promises, it's sure to become a seasonal cult-favorite among high-brow drinkers and fun-loving revelers alike.
PDT Tropicale will serve guests from Friday at 5pm until Sunday evening’s last call, with reservations via Resy, as well as seating reserved for walk-ins. See you there!
