New York's community of cocktail connoisseurs has been mourning the loss of Angel's Share since the beloved speakeasy was forced to shutter last year due to a rent dispute. Tucked behind a Japanese restaurant through a hidden door, the not-so-secret watering hole had called the East Village home since it opened in 1993.
While the team has been hosting pop-ups over the past year at the Kimpton Hotel Eventi, fans of the spot are finally getting the good news they've been waiting for.
As confirmed by the New York Times, the bar is officially making a permanent comeback - albeit in a shiny new space across town. Erina Yoshida, the daughter of original proprietor Tony Yoshida, will be helming Angel's Share 2.0, which is set to reopen at 45 Grove Street in the West Village. According to the Times, the address has landmark status and has never been home to a bar or restaurant before. How exciting!
There's no word yet on when we can expect it to open, but we'll be waiting with bated breath and glass in hand to raise a toast to its return!
