NY Mag took a look at the nine new establishments expected to open in Meatpacking this fall, along with some others around the city. But one that they notably left off? Matt Shendell's (of DUNE, The Hill, DIP) "The Ainsworth" expected to open at 122 W.26th Street in mid September.
“The Ainsworth will be a fusion of the classic American fare favorites with exotic herbs, spices and ingredients, a first class bar and a visually stimulating décor culminating in the ultimate drinking and dining experience.” says Matt Shendell.
But the competition will be fierce this fall, and a giant "Megagastropub" may have a tough time keeping up.

(August 2009, NYC) Paige Management Group (DUNE,The Hill, DIP) is once again responsible for opening what is geared to become a neighborhood favorite. Matt Shendell, President, Paige Management Group has converted The Eventspace located at 122 West 26 Street into a bar and restaurant, The Ainsworth. This 6,000 square foot space brings together the rustic chicness that is the Chelsea Flower district and merges it with the delicate balance of food- flavor -fun that Manhattan is known for.
The venues interior which was designed by Shendell, was designed around the needs of a Chelsea neighborhood that was missing “THE LOCAL’S SPOT” to go for food and drinks and also with his corporate clientele in mind designing a space large enough to be able to be able to accommodate product launches or private events. A state of the art sound system enhanced by multiple hi- def TV’s located throughout the venue offering diners an opportunity to see a sporting event in an unobstructed fashion from any angle in the venue. The antiqued pine walls hung with aged mirrors are complimented by dark chocolate accents around the bar and wrought iron gates around the banquettes.
The Ainsworth features savory dishes like Grilled Bone in Pork Chops with apple chutney drizzled with a balsamic reduction which is complimented by one of the many specialty cocktails like the namesake drink The Ainsworth which is a combination of muddled lemons, mint leaves and soda mixed with a Honey whiskey. Executive Chef Dave Feimster brings to Paige Management group his extraordinary culinary skills to create scrumptious American Fusion cuisine in this new Chelsea Hotspot, and neighborhood go-to for any type of event or occasion.
The Ainsworth menu features items such as; Miso Duck Spring Rolls, Wild Mushroom Pizza and Pineapple Ribs all prepared by Chef Dave Feimster. The Chef has had over 15 years experience preparing meals that are based on local ingredients infused with spices of the various places he has visited.
