Your couples-centric social life - the dinner parties, in particular—will evaporate.

Even if you “keep the friends” (meaning that most of them stick with you, rather than with your ex), expect to see those friends for lunch or coffee, way more than dinner. They won’t mean to exclude you. It's just that divorcees tend to become invisible. We are the inconvenient singletons, if not outright threats. It isn’t you. It isn’t really them, either. It’s a sort of biological force, that keeps the safely (if miserably) marrieds in their own separate herd.
