Born: June 9, 1921 Died: May 3, 1982 (age 60) Husbands: 2; John Simms Kell, Robert Chatfield-Taylor Who she is: Brenda Frazier, who was a popular socialite during the Depression, gained notoritey as a social-climber and for gaining world-wide popularity for no reason other than being upwardly mobile. The word "celebutante" was coined in 1939 to describe Brenda, after her coming out party garnered so much attention that it eventually landed her on the cover of Life Magazine. Brenda eventually became a hermit, and in true Grey Gardens style, she moved to a quiet town in Massachusetts where she lived in relative obscurity until she died. [Photo via]
