Instant Social Darling
Her natural beauty and grace, combined with her newfound flair for fabulous dressing, made Blanche an instant hit on the social scene. She was the picture of the frenetic 1920s It Girl, extended invites to all the artsy parties of the day, swankiest nightclubs, and big opening nights on Broadway (her seats were reserved, it's said, by a slew of mysterious secret admirers). She was a frequent guest at fetes thrown by Salvador Dali. The owners of popular Harlem speakeasy Hot Cha reserved a table for her, simply because her presence was good for business.
