Not speaking French fluently is frowned upon and not being a fan of coats of arms is unacceptable. The YCM was founded in 1953 by Prince Rainier and is steeped in tradition (the club's website lauds its commitment to "preserving a certain ethic, both on land and on the water, and to foster a respect for naval etiquette and preservation of the environment").
