All Dressed Up With Nowhere To Go: Patti Ruiz-Healy

by Christie Grimm · May 19, 2020

Who isn't absolutely, completely, hopelessly desperate for an excuse to get dressed up these days?

I so miss running into Patti Ruiz-Healy out and about. The gallery owner isn't just a force in the art world - if you haven't had the pleasure of visiting her UES spot, check out her viewing room online! - she's also an incredibly delightful staple of the social scene. Always the most cheerful, fun, best dressed face to spot in a sea of society silliness.

Even in quarantine, not much has changed - girl will always love a martini!

    What are you wearing?
An Alicia Adams Alpaca cape. Since it is usually very warm in Texas the AC is always on and during quarantine this cape has kept me nice and cozy. Not to mention it makes me look very put together for Zoom meetings. Party on top PJs on the bottom.

Where are you riding out the storm?
I grew up in Texas so I am riding out the storm at my parents home in San Antonio. Go Spurs Go!

    How have you stayed productive?
Luckily, I have been busy with my art gallery, Ruiz-Healy Art. We participated in the first edition of Frieze Online as well as in the IFPDA Fine Art Print Fair. Even though we have not been able to hold public openings and art fairs as we have come to know them have all moved from grand exhibition spaces to online, we are so thankful that we can show the artists hard work virtually. I am so lucky to have a team full of bad ass ladies! Female founded all female led!

    Drink of choice these days?
Vodka martinis or vodka sodas, with Titos and Topo Chico of course!

Little luxury of normal life you miss the most?
Martinis at The Carlyle and dinner at Sant Ambroeus on the Upper East Side. But I would pretty much go anywhere, except for a Trump rally, if it meant I could spend some time with friends! I also really miss haircuts. I recently cut my own hair and could really use some help from a professional to even it out…

What is the most fabulous thing you have done in quarantine so far?
My friends threw me a social distancing birthday party! It was so thoughtful of them since I was really bummed about a quarantine birthday! They got me take out from some of my local favorites, pizza from Florio’s, Thundercloud Subs and the best Mexican food from Soluna.
