'Twas the eve of the financial crisis, and Valentine's Day. On February 13th, 2007, Blackstone co-founder and CEO Stephen Schwarzman celebrated his 60th birthday at the Park Avenue Armory, welcoming 350 guests (including Donald Trump) to a red-and-white, glittering, $3 million bash. Performances by Rod Stewart matched the awe-inducing 50-foot silkscreen model of the mogul’s apartment, just after one of the largest buyouts in Wall Street history.
