Dresden's Green Vault Museum

The most recent high-profile heist (and inspiration for this article) was this November's break-in at Dresden's Green Vault Museum. Called Germany's worst burglary since World War II, it involved the theft of around 100 "priceless" historical pieces, including a diamond hat clasp worn by Frederick Augustus III in the late 1700s, a bejeweled sword and scabbard boasting nearly 800 diamonds, and the famous, 49-carat Dresden White Diamond. Despite the fact that the whole thing was caught on video, the police haven't pointed to any suspects.
