The Cost Of Living

Why might you ask would a business tycoon choose to settle down in the English countryside, rather than in the bustling metropolis and financial center of London? Well, unsurprisingly, the cost of living in Surrey was far cheaper than in a big city like London, where he had previously resided at The Ritz.

He once famously told reporter Art Buchwald that at The Ritz a rum and coke cost more than a dollar, but at Sutton Place, it was just 10 cents.

Clearly, this guy would never have lasted a minute out on the town in New York.
