This week's Fame Game Featured "Mover and Shaker" is actress Mamie Gummer, moving up an impressive 5.9% in this week’s “ENTERTAINMENT” category, second only to Drew Barrymore, and just above Lorraine Bracco from The Sopranos.
Mamie, who's real name is Mary Willa Gummer, is the daughter of Academy Award-winning Meryl Streep and Sculptor Don Gummer. Mamie has followed in her mother's acting footsteps, having quite a few film and tv credits already to her name, and even acting with Meryl in a few productions. We admit, the resemblance is strikingly uncanny. Most recently, Mamie played the role of Sally Adams in the 2008 HBO mini series John Adams. She's also getting more attention recently after making her Broadway debut in the Tony Award-winning revival of Les Liaisons Dangereuses.
Having been surrounded by fellow actors and artists her entire life, Mamie started honing her craft early on, appearing in the 1986 film Heartburn as the daughter of real life mom Meryl and Jack Nicholson. She thinks fondly of this time, according to this NY Mag interview last year: "I love watching that movie. Whenever I’m having a bad day, me and my sisters turn it on.” But as Mamie 's attention keeps growing, we can't imagine she has too many of those.
Mamie Gummer is currently ranked 2242 among more than 160,000 people in Fame Game, and has 136 people connections. She's in good company; her top two people connections are acting veterans Julianne Moore and Clare Danes. Mamie’s highest rank to date is 720.
Fame Game's algorithm computes rank (a measure of overall media attention) by looking at inputs such as the number of events attended, influential connections and "connectedness" index, news and editorial mentions, user attention/search trends, blog attention, and more. Learn more here.
