White Horse Tavern
Location: White Horse Tavern, 567 Hudson St.
History: West Village's White Horse Tavern has been the "bar for writers" since 1673. It is also known as the place in which Dylan Thomas took eighteen shots of whiskey to the face, passed out outside of the tavern, fell into a coma and later passed away at the Hotel Chelsea. We know that writers like to drink, but hopefully we can all agree that eighteen shots is a bit excessive.
Haunted Happenings: Dylan Thomas loved the White Horse Tavern so much that he never left. The staff occasionally finds a beer glass and a shot glass on his favorite table. He will forever be the tavern's most loyal customer.
