Bishop’s Palace, Galveston, Texas

The Victorian-style chateau, also known as Gresham's Castle was constructed for Colonel Walter Gresham between 1887 and 1892. The ornate interiors include a mahogany staircase, wood carvings, and stained glass, but its sturdy steel and stone architecture is noteworthy. In 1900, it survived a massive hurricane, and The Greshams welcomed hundreds of survivors into their home. Good energy abounds!
