'Iolani Palace, Honolulu, Hawaii

Once the home of Hawaii's last monarchs, Honolulu's 'Iolani Palace is a living piece of history - it's the only official royal residence on U.S. soil. It was built by King Kalākaua, the first monarch (of any nation) to ever travel around the world. Needless to say, he garnered plenty of design inspo on his trip, which is why this is considered the only example of "American Florentine."
